For mentees

We're really glad you're here.

Reaching out for support takes courage, especially around struggles that can feel isolating or hard to talk about. This space is here to offer you connection, understanding, and steady support from someone who truly “gets it.”

EmpowHER mark: two hands reaching between two pillars

How it works

Five rungs, one at a time.

The path is deliberately simple. You never have to know the whole climb to take the next step.

Step one

You complete an application.

Step two

You are thoughtfully matched with a peer mentor.

Step three

You connect weekly in a flexible format.

Step four

You have a space to be honest, reflect, and stay accountable week by week.

Step five

After 4 months, you can choose to extend for another cycle after a brief check-in.

What this is not

Clear about our lane.

Knowing what EmpowHER isn't makes it easier to trust what it is.

  • Not therapy, counseling, or professional treatment
  • Not a crisis service or emergency intervention system
  • Not a substitute for medical, psychological, or clinical care
  • Not a space for judgment, pressure, or being “fixed”

Support beyond your mentor

While the relationship is peer-based, you're not alone behind the scenes. There are check-ins at key points to support both mentor and mentee, help address concerns, and keep the mentorship supportive, meaningful, and on track.

Who this is for

This may be a good fit if you…

  • Are aware of ongoing struggles in these areas
  • Want support, structure, and accountability
  • Are open to honest self-reflection and growth
  • Are willing to engage in a consistent mentoring relationship

You don't need the right words, a plan, or a clean record to begin. Willingness is enough to apply.

Questions

Before you apply.

Are mentors trained?

Absolutely. Mentors complete a structured training process before being matched. They learn how to listen effectively, maintain boundaries, offer appropriate support, and recognize when to refer out.

While they are not professionals, they are prepared to support in a thoughtful and responsible way.

Is there any oversight?

Yes. The program includes intentional oversight. There are check-ins at key points, and we are available if questions or concerns arise, helping ensure the mentorship remains safe and beneficial.

Is this confidential?

Yes. What's shared in mentoring is kept private and treated with respect. Mentors may occasionally seek guidance to better support you, without sharing identifying details.

Do I need to share everything?

No. You share at your own pace. Honesty matters more than detail.

What if it's not a good fit?

You're not stuck. If something doesn't feel right, you can reach out and we'll help you navigate next steps — whether that means adjusting the relationship or rematching.

What if I need more support than a mentor can give?

That's completely okay. Mentors may gently encourage you to seek additional support if something is beyond the scope of peer mentoring. We can also help guide you toward appropriate resources.

Mentee application

This application helps us understand you better.

This application helps us understand you better so we can make a thoughtful and supportive match. Your responses will be kept confidential and used to understand your situation to help us match you with the right mentor.

1 About you

We recommend using your real first name, as it helps build a more authentic connection with your mentor. Your privacy is important to us, and we have no way of, or interest in, identifying you. If you prefer, you may use any first name you'd like your mentor to call you.

2 Your experience

You can list general areas — no need for details.

3 What you're hoping for

e.g., accountability, encouragement, tools, someone who gets it, etc.

You never need to share more than you're comfortable with — but what you do share needs to be honest.

Thank you for taking the time to share and for allowing yourself to be supported. Your responses will be kept confidential and used to understand your situation to help us match you with the right mentor.
